“Painting and creating a color composition is such a pleasure,
that it would be a shame to deprive oneself of it.”

Born in Pleubian (France) in 1958, by the sea in the Côtes d’Armor, Francoise was inspired throughout her childhood by her mother’s artistic inclinations but had no real desire to create. It was only much later, after securing a position as a professor of organic chemistry at the university, that she felt the need to express herself through painting.
Guided by an art professor, her first works were rather abstract and highly colorful. Over the years, her geometric and colorful style became more defined, daily inspired by the three-dimensional molecules that also possess an artistic form when they come to life with their structures and colors.
Through colors, like a chemical experiment that leads to the artwork, Francoise first seeks to attract and engage. Then comes the scientific aspect with geometry as a guide, which plays a central role in her paintings while remaining abstract, leaving her audience searching for a meaning.
“The eye is drawn to a harmonious choice of colors and structures, both in painting and in chemistry; we also speak of the alchemy induced by a painting,” she admits when asked about the vision behind her works, which use a skillful blend of hues and mediums.
